Danica Patrick, the former IndyCar heart throb, today made her NASCAR debut at Daytona. Patrick, one of only 16 female NASCAR drivers in the history of the sport, finished 6th in her ARCA debut last week and her presence at Daytona provided a boost to both the attendance and TV ratings. After years of marketing herself to prove that women can drive just as well as men and that she is not just a token piece of skirt, Patrick stalled her car during a pit stop before leaving the race on lap 67 after crashing into a wall and then losing control of her vehicle.

Patrick finished 35th out of 43 cars in a race which was won by Tony Stewart. Stewart has won the NASCAR Nationwide Series opener at Daytona in 5 of the past 6 seasons with today's win coming after starting the race down in 32nd place.
